My First Strips
Hello all! I have my first 12 strips sewed, and more cut to size. I am using strips 2" x 8 1/2" for my quilt. I have some very sentimental pieces of fabric that have been saved since I started sewing 10 years ago. Also there are some fabric from a good friend in Japan that she sent home to me. The flower print below the black and white polka dots was the material I used to make my daughter a dress when I was pregnant with her, she is now 6. I also have to cut a strip from some fabric that I made my first ever pair of overalls for my daughter whom is 10 now, but when she was a little over a year old. In the picture to the left I have a strip of Amy Butler from my first ever quilt, etc. etc. etc. I am having so much fun with this and cannot wait to see how it grows and looks over the next year! Thanks for letting me join the fun!!

oh stacey your pics were like eye candy when i clicked on the blog this morning!!!
i just love how sentimental all these quilts are turning out to be!!!
LOVE it!!!
I love the fabrics you picked! Where did you get the Hello Kitty one?
Your colors and fabrics are wonderful! I just LOVE the sentimental nature of your quilt. I know it's going to look fabulous. My work is also going to be sentimental (for me) but since it's being orchestrated by my 5 year old son, I don't know how it will look!
Can't wait to see more!
Cheers,
Dionne
Ok, the second strip down is from Japan, that is currently what my sewing machine cover is made out of. Thomas is what my 3 yo son loves right now, Care Bears my 6 yo daughter loves, the green one under the CB is sheep material from Japan, the black and white polka dot is also from Japan and is the lining of my purse I use every day, the flower underneath is my daughters dress, under that is Tinkerbelle, my 10 yo daughter loves fairies, Hello Kitty is actually from Japan and the star underneath was the contrast color I made for my daughter's bag, and the purple was a gift from a pincushion swap I did on Ravelry. Now the strips cut, are what my kids like and the pink flower is from Japan, it is a traditional gown material that they make their special occasion outfits from, and the pink polka dot what the contrast I did for my other daughters bag. I made both the girls bags last year for their birthdays. I do need to go get a black fabric marker so I can write things on my quilt. Today is storming so I have to wait on that!! Hopefully not too long, as I do not want to forget certain things.
I love that you have sooo many great memories with your fabric. what a great way to use them!
Make sure you write it down so your daughter(s) can treasure it later in life too!
Your fabrics are so fun.
